The SATF hosts an annual Transport Forum for stakeholders to provide an update on progress during the preceding year and with the specific intention to ensure regular engagement with all the stakeholders. Key successes shared at the Forum included:
- Since 2013, Stansted has added over nine million passengers a year;
- Stansted has maintained its position as the UK’s number one airport for public transport use of over 51% of air passengers using bus, coach or train to travel to the Airport;
- We have also provided £150,000 to support the Airport Commuter Centre and travel card which has helped push the number of staff using public transport to around one third of the airport population;
The Airport provides a public transport levy to assist the funding of transport improvements overseen by the SATF which provides between £500,000 to £700,000 per annum through car park transactions. - Over 12.5 million passengers now use rail, coach or bus to access the airport each year – more than Luton, Birmingham, East Midlands and Manchester airports combined;
- Over 50 new or enhanced Bus and Coach services delivered since 2000 through the Bus and Coach Working Group;
- Overseen the introduction of new coach services serving main London destinations – Kings Cross, Waterloo and Paddington – Now over 1,200 bus and coach departures per day from Stansted Airport;
- Last year, through our public transport levy, £100,000 has been invested into our partnership with Arriva to provide the next generation of energy efficient buses on key routes to Bishop’s Stortford and Harlow;
- In 2016, Surface Access Transport Forum provided £300,000 over 3 years to develop and launch the new X10 Basildon-Chelmsford-Stansted Airport bus service which is growing year on year;
- Worked in partnership with rail operators to grow rail mode share to 31% in 2017 – 3% growth from 2016;
